Application Field
Microfiber APS-C sensor swab is a single-use, pre-moistened cleaning stick designed to physically remove stubborn dust and oil spots from the image sensor of an APS-C format digital camera.
Material Benefits
The swab sensor's tip is made from ultra-fine, non-abrasive microfiber material. This material is excellent at trapping and holding microscopic particles without scratching the delicate sensor filter.
Purpose
Provides a soft, lint-free surface to wipe the sensor. Using regular cloth or materials can leave behind fibers or cause damage to sensitive camera components.
Usage Instructions
First Steps
Always start by using a rocket blower to remove loose dust. If spots remain, a sensor brush might be tried.
For Stubborn Spots
If spots are still visible in test photos (shoot a plain sky at f/16), a wet swab is the solution.
Procedure
The swab is removed from its sterile packaging. Holding the camera with the sensor facing down (so gravity helps), you gently place the swab at one end of the sensor and, with light pressure, drag it across the entire length in one smooth motion. You then flip the swab to its clean side and make a second pass in the opposite direction.
Disposal
The swab is used once and then thrown away. Reusing it risks re-depositing the collected grime or scratching the sensor with now-loose particles.
