Collection Process
- Specimen Collection: Rub and rotate the foam tip firmly on the inside of both cheeks for 20-30 seconds per cheek to saturate foam with saliva and exfoliate mucosal cells
- Transfer: Immediately place swab tip-first into transport tube
- Seal: Secure cap tightly to preserve specimen in tube solution
- Label & Transport: Label tube with patient information and transport to laboratory according to guidelines
